During the age of eight to fourteen I loved hosting Beauty pageants, moving from my grand-mothers garden to the park platform as the entries increased, gifting the winners with my Granny’s garden blossoms, it was beautiful to see these girls feel uplifted and important. I know that most teenage girls develops complex insecurities and low self-esteem due to many factors, body shamed, due to weight disorders or bad skin, poverty, a lack of love in the home, especially coming from rejection and an unhealthy/toxic home environment or being a product of divorce or rape. At that age in my life, I already knew I wanted to make a positive difference for someone else. I hosted these pageants to make the girls feel loved and beautiful as I never felt like I was good enough or even loved and worst of all I never loved myself. Self sabotage was my natural reflection back then…
